Alysia Condon, LAc (Aly) is a graduate of Acupuncture and Integrative Medicine College (AIMC) in Berkeley, CA. She began her East Asian Medicine career in Wisconsin in 2004, working as an assistant and learning from Dr. Arthur Rapkin, OMD. Speaking of what brought her to East Asian Medicine, Aly says:
My friend entered me in a drawing for what she thought was a free massage; when I won, it turned out it was a free acupuncture consultation. (Thank you, Universe!) I had a number of very serious health problems, most especially major depressive disorder. Treatment with acupuncture and herbs helped me resolve all of my health problems and wean off all of my medications. To this day, I'm a happy, healthy individual. Naturally, I decided to help other people have the same healing experience I was given!Aly has been specializing in treating mental health and stress since she began her studies in 2004. She firmly believes that all human beings have the need and right to sanctuary, compassion, community, and joy. Through her own work, she reminds herself and her patients that existence is delightful, and that buddhist monks in training spend meditation time laughing. Aly likes to craft, drink tea, maintain her sizable collection of houseplants, adore her two cats, and spend time being a nerd.
Valerie Razutis, MS, L.Ac. is a graduate of Acupuncture and Integrative Medicine College, Berkeley. She comes to Chinese medicine from a 21 year career as a paramedic. She says:
As I worked longer and longer in emergency medicine, I started to realize that there are so many conditions Western medicine cannot help. What I love most about being an acupuncturist is making real changes in people’s lives and watching their health and quality of life improve. It’s incredible to see people feeling well and pain free for the first time in years.Valerie primarily treats patients with cancer and other long term medical illnesses. Her background allows her to help patients understand the Western treatments and medications they’re using. She communicates well and easily with her patients' medical doctors and can help make a truly integrative treatment plan for her patients. Her other acupuncture passion is facial rejuvenation.
At first, I was honestly skeptical but it amazes me how facial rejuvenation acupuncture really can reduce wrinkles, improve skin tone, and rejuvenate the face. I love seeing how happy patients are and how much they enjoy their new faces! In addition to treating patients, Valerie is a Professor and the Associate Dean of Academic and Clinical Education at AIMC Berkeley, where she continues to share her vast knowledge in western medicine with future acupuncturists. When not treating patients and teaching, she enjoys cooking and traveling the world.
